"Instruction Manual"

The Lessons Page (Lesson Search Engine):
When you login you will automatically be taken to the 'Classroom' page. Click on the 'Lessons' tab on the top right-hand of the screen.

When you click on the 'Lessons' tab you will be taken to the 'Lessons' page. On the right you will see a list of all the different types of lessons available at Learn Articulate English - we will learn about all these individually later on.

On the left of the 'Lessons' page you will see the 'Lessons Search Engine' (see below). Let's learn how to use it...

Below you can see the results of a search. A student called Michael has purchased 4 lessons using credits. On the 'Lessons' page (below) he has clicked on "Search" without filling in any of the boxes on the "Lesson Search" panel (on the left). On the right we can see the results of the search: every one of his lessons is displayed.

If you want to display all of your lessons in one search, leave all the boxes blank (in the "Lesson Search" panel) and then click "Search".

You will notice in the example above that one of the lessons was "archived" (i.e. the administrator is no longer accepting questions and work from the students for that lesson). If you want to display all your "active" lessons only, click on the "active box" in the "Lesson Search" panel and a green tick will appear. Now click "Search" and all your active lessons will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen (see below).

You can use the 'Lesson box' on the 'Lesson Search' panel by entering whole words found in the lessons titles. For example, on the left, Michael entered the words "manchester united" in the 'Lesson box', and then clicked "Search" in order to find his comprehension lesson on an interview with the Manchester United football club manager. The results were then displayed on the right of the screen.

You don't have to enter whole words into the 'Lesson box', you could simply enter the first few letters of a word. On the right, Michael entered the letters "se" in the 'Lesson box' and clicked "Search".

As you can see from the results on the right there were two lessons with the word "Send" in the title, which starts with the letters "se".

Not only can you search for lessons according to their titles, but you can also look for lessons that include use of certain vocabulary.

Besides deciding whether to search for all lessons or just the active ones, you can narrow your searches by selecting the lesson type (on the left). Click on the bar next to the word 'Type', click on your chosen option, fill out the rest of the search panel as ususal (see above) and then click 'Search'. An example is given below.

You can also decide how you want the results to be displayed. For example you could choose to have 15, 25, or 50 results on a page (click on the bar next to 'Results'); or you could put the results in date order or by how much they cost in credits (click on the bar next to 'Order by' - see example on the right).

Above is the same search by the letters "se" as the one further up this page, except it is limited by 'Lesson type' (i.e. 'General Clinic' is selected). Because of this, only the results that apply to 'General Clinic' have been displayed.

Using the 'Lesson Search' panel will help you to find the types of lessons that you want so that you can learn exactly what you want to. Express yourself with advanced English.
