You must login before you can access this page

We will learn more about the 'Classroom' page later (See 'Your Classroom'). Please click on the 'Lesson tab' (in the top right-hand corner of the screen). |
Clicking on the 'Lesson' tab will bring you to the page below. As you can see on the left, you can find lessons to suit your needs, but we will get to that later (See 'Lesson Search Engine'). On the right is a list of all the different types of lessons available: Comprehension, Creative Clinic, General Clinic, Written, and Listening (and the grammar newsletters and pronunciation guides). By the right of each title is the number of lessons of that type that are available in the archive. Let's click on "General Clinic"...

"General Clinic" is very interactive and depends very much on the participation of students. It is the same as the "Creative Clinic" but for sentences and small paragraphs, anything bigger will used in the "Creative Clinic". If there is a sentence you don't understand or something you would like to learn how to express in a different way or different tense, you can submit it to Learn Articulate English. Some of them will be chosen by an administrator and posted in the General Clinic (with corrections if necessary) for other students to write alternative versions and ask questions of their own. It's a really good opportunity to test yourself and grow as a student. Be free and express yourself as you want.
When you click on a lesson title you will be taken to the 'master page' for that type of lesson. Below is the 'General Clinic master page'. This contains a list of all the "General Clinic" lessons in the archive, in date order (the most recent first). On the left is the lesson ID number (meaning 'identification' number). Every lesson in the archive has a unique number so that you can find it easily (See 'Lesson Search Engine'). In the next column are all the titles of all the lessons. By searching the newsletters for that week you will find more information about what is in the lesson. In the next column is the date that the lesson was posted on the website by an administrator. The next column tells you the lesson type (in this case "General Clinic") and the last column tells you how much it will cost to buy in Credits. If the lesson is posted during your time as a member, it will be free. You need to click on the title of the lesson to continue to the next page.

Let's learn how to send questions to Learn Articulate English. Click on "Submit your question" to start the process. |
When you have clicked on "Submit your question " you will be taken to the 'General Clinic Submission' screen (on the right). Enter your text (or 'copy and paste' it from elsewhere) and click on "Submit Question ". To the right is a question by a student called Michael. The question is automatically sent to the administrator when you click on "Submit Question". |

To the left is the 'lesson purchase page'. You will only see this if you are trying to access a lesson that wasn't posted during your time as a member of Learn Articulate English. To buy the lesson you need to click on "Purchase" at the bottom-right of the page. |
When you click on "Purchase" you will be taken to the 'purchase confirmation page'. Click on "Purchase Lesson" to confirm you want to buy the lesson. |

If it's all gone right you will be shown this confirmation message for a few seconds before the lesson appears.

If the administrator answers the question in the "General Clinic", it will eventually appear at the bottom of the page. Here is Michael's question again:

As you can see from the question above, the administrator was asked to rephrase a sentence. Sometimes there are a number of ways you can express a sentence or paragraph. If you want to test yourself click on "Post a Response" and you could send in a possible alternative of your own and see if you're right. If you are wrong an administrator will correct you, but either way you will be helping other people as well as increasing in confidence.
The "General Clinic" is your chance to learn what you want to learn and find ways of expressing yourself as much as you want. So long as the lesson is "active" you can keep sending in alternative pieces of text, asking questions and learning from the lesson by participation a little at a time. When the lesson is "archived" it means the administrator is no longer posting work and questions from the students; it also means that the lesson is full and complete and students will now be able to review all the principles of the lesson at once.
